Tilly's Nursery

Whew, this has taken quite some time!  As much as I wish it was 100% done, there are still some tiny little things left, but for the most part.. it is complete! I still need to find curtains, a new light fixture, hang the monitor, and also hang a few things over her bookshelf.  Nothing that is super urgent, but that will hopefully all be done soon.  I am actually waiting on our maternity prints to come in now, and then I can get the things hung on the wall.

We started this process a few months ago, as it required rearranging our whole house! (or it seemed). Originally the nursery was the guest room/office, and what now is the guest room/office was Lance's band room.  He is the drummer in a band, so this is where all this equipment was set up and his little man room. Sadly, we only have a 3 bedroom house, so the band room got axed.  His drums are now packed away in the closet.. but with easy access! :)  A few months ago we started by painting the band room and getting it ready to switch everything over.  Then slowly the switch got made, and all of our purchases and gifts for little missy got shoved into her room.  Let's just say it was a MESS in there of a million boxes.  Her room is pretty tiny (which is why we chose it for the nursery) so I had no clue how to organize such a tiny room and get all her stuff in there.  I have been slowly working on it and am very happy with the results!  This room was already a light purple color (but looks gray in pictures?) so Lance was super happy we were having a girl since this meant one less room he had to paint. haha

I know I wanted something simple, but girly. Not too cluttered or too baby-ish.  As we started to pick our things, Lance was determined to get dark furniture, and I wanted white.  The more we looked, the more I did like the dark and started thinking it looked more elegant and just nicer.  Now don't get me wrong, lots of white furniture looks great, but I couldn't find anything that didn't look too cheap that wasn't crazy expensive.   So I eventually caved and went with the dark, and am so happy I did! I think this will also transition better into the toddler years and later down the road if we have a little boy.

Sooooo here we go.  A few (nicely snapped from the iphone) pictures of Tilly's room.. all we need now is a baby! :)

First off, the closet.  This closet is TINY, and I mean tiny.  Lance added the 2 shelves and this helped tons with organizing her small things in baskets and stacking all her blankets.  Then as you can see, diapers and wipes are stashed on the bottom andddddd.. all the random things we don't need just yet, or the boxes to things we are using are all nicely shoved up top! ha  I put most of her clothes in the dresser, it just seemed so much easier and more organized. But, I'm sure the closet will fill up soon enough! :)

And the rest!

*Now, I have washed, dried, and ironed that quilt and it stays super wrinkled! So it is what it is! ha

And that's it! Nothing big or fancy, but I love it! I always go and sit in the rocker and just hang out some evenings- it's so peaceful.  Having her room ready makes me even more anxious, if that's possible, for her to arrive.  Hopefully this last month doesn't go by too slow!!

36 Weeks Bumpdate

How far along:  36 weeks

Size of baby:  Large Cantaloupe (again)- 19-22in, 6lbs
Gender:  Girl
Maternity clothes:  Everything except my pajamas/lounge clothes, and tanks I stretch over this belly!
Sleep:  Still lots and lots of hip pain. I also have noticed my stomach gets so hard and painful at night, so I think I am starting to have the BH contractions at night.. but not during the day. Strange.
Symptoms:  Everything! haha
Miss anything:  Just being comfortable and not a million degrees. This heat is killer when you have a permanent heater in your belly.
Movement:  This girl is a wiggle worm. They say movement decreases as they get bigger, but she has been more active! And now that she's bigger, those movements HURT. I think she wants out! :)
Food cravings:  Think I'll make it the whole pregnancy with no crazy cravings.. weird!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope
Have you started to show yet:   Growing and growing
Belly button in or out:   Magically still in for now
Wedding rings on or off:  Sadly, pretty much always off.  My wedding ring is a size 4 1/2, and the cheapo band I bought to wear for now is a 6 and fits kind of snug.. crazy!  This heat is keeping them super puffy.
Mood:  Anxious!!!
Best moment of this week:  We went swimming on Saturday and it was AMAZING. It was the first time in months that my body didn't hurt and I felt weightless.  Even for about 30 minutes after I got out, I felt normal.  Then of course all the aches and pains came back haha
Looking forward to:   I am heading out now to get a pedicure and then late this afternoon is my 36 week checkup to see if I am making any progress towards labor.  I know what they check for doesn't mean much, but it'll at least make me THINK something is happening! haha So send happy baby thoughts our way around 5:15 (NC time!) :) :)

35 Weeks Bumpdate

{Mas and Lance at her 90th birthday last fall}

Sadly Lance's grandmother, Mas, passed away last night.  She was 90, but is now back with Lance's grandfather and can be at peace.  Since we are leaving tomorrow to head back to his hometown (luckily only about an hour and 45 min away.. so hopefully no labor signs, yikes!) I am doing my update a few days early.

{Quick pic I sent my mom yesterday.. not the best, but you can see my big ole belly}

How far along:  35 weeks (on Wednesday)

Size of baby:  Large Cantaloupe- 19-22in, 5.5lbs
Gender:  Girl
Maternity clothes:  Same as before.. this belly is BIG.
Sleep:  It's so-so.  I am still in a lot of pain laying down, especially now that my sciatic nerve on my right side is hurting BAD.  Mostly my right side is falling apart because as I've said, that's where little missy has firmly planted herself.  The heartburn is also in full flames, so laying down makes it a million times worse.  Some how I am still sleeping a bit through all this, but never really feeling rested.
Symptoms:  Uncomfortable. Heartburn. Exhausted. Very light headed and faint. Big...  Must mean we're close!!! lol
Miss anything:  Oh yea.
Movement:  She is literally trying to pop out of my right side. I think the inside has to bruised (if that is possible). She's always wiggling and sticking her big ole booty out.
Food cravings:  If I had to think of one thing I guess I could pin it to ice cream.  I don't ever HAVE to have it, but I definitely have wanted it a lot being pregnant, and never really did before.  I could take it or leave it, but if it's an option.. I am taking it!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Have you started to show yet:   Uh huh
Belly button in or out:   Still staying in there!
Wedding rings on or off:  On during the day, off at night
Mood:  Sad this week for Lance's family, but getting more and more excited to meet our little girl.
Best moment of this week:  I met with the pediatrician last Thursday and it went really well.  We will definitely be using her and that office!
Looking forward to:   Since we are leaving for  out of town tomorrow, we had to reschedule our hospital tour to June 3, and also I will miss my checkup this week and start for my once a week ones next Wednesday.  I am looking forward to that 36 week check up to see if they can tell any progress that this little lady wants out!! :)

34 Weeks Bumpdate

No mirror pic, yay!  I did have Lance take this right after I woke up from my nap, so I don't look my best but hey, I'm pretty much tired and puffy most of the day so it's pretty accurate! haha

How far along:  34 weeks

Size of baby:  Pineapple- 19-22in, 4.9lbs
Gender:  Girl
Maternity clothes:  I mostly live in my maternity dresses or jumbo tshirts and shorts. Comfy clothes are what it's all about!
Sleep:  Uh, not good here. My hips and back are awful lately, so sleeping on my side hurts pretty bad. Of course this is the only way I can sleep now, so I am constantly switching sides (which let me tell you is NOT an easy task with this belly.) By the time I can finally fall asleep, I am woken up to have to pee.  It's a vicious cycle that continues all night. So basically I am exhausted most of the time.. preparation for what's to come? haha
Symptoms:  Burning up hot, in a lot of pain, feel like I have NO more room to grow.. which is scary since I know I am going to! ha, exhausted, overall feeling very blah.  I heard that once you get into the 30's week it goes downhill.. man they were right. Around 32 weeks it really hit me.  Short people don't have enough room for these babies! lol  But I'm making it.  As much as I am ready for her to be here, I know she needs to bake a bit longer!!
Miss anything:  Lots.
Movement:  She's always rolling around in there feeling like she is trying to escape.  She likes to stick her butt way out of my side now, which totally freaks out Lance. haha He will feel her and be like, "Oh my gosh that feels so painful."  Hm, yep! He also said she feels like a snake moving around in there.. and that he's glad men don't have to carry babies. Lucky duck!
Food cravings:  Still nothing.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Have you started to show yet:   Oh yea.
Belly button in or out:   Still in for now, even though it's tiny!
Wedding rings on or off:  On during the day, off at night
Mood:  Overwhelmed
Best moment of this week:  Just getting through each day! The nursery is officially ALMOST done.  Looking for one last piece and then we can get it complete.. which makes me sooo happy.  Now I need a baby to put in there! :)
Looking forward to:   Just relaxing and enjoying my time off.  I am so thankful I was able to take these 2 months off before she got here. I can't even imagine getting up every morning and making that commute to work feeling how I do.  Also I meet with our pediatrician option tomorrow morning, and our hospital tour is next Tuesday night.. it's all getting real!!

33 Weeks Bumpdate

I'm not good at getting these not sideways, ha.  Maybe before the end I'll have some good, non mirror, pics? :)

How far along:  33 weeks

Size of baby: Honeydew- 19in, 4.5lbs
Gender:  Girl
Maternity clothes:  Got some good deals in last week, and will be the last I buy I'm sure.  I have my staple pieces to last me these last few weeks.  I took my dress back to Old Navy and luckily they had the same one in the Medium, so I got that plus one other maxi.  I also got some shorts, a new basic tshirt, capris, Tilly some PJ's, and Lance a pair of work pants all for... $25! yay! Since I am no longer working and racking up my rewards with shopping, I'm sure that'll be my last big bargain trip, boo!
Sleep:  Uncomfortable, but I'm sleeping! The bathroom breaks are still ALL night long.
Symptoms:  Bigger and more uncomfortable each day and still feeling a million degrees.
Miss anything:  Not being a human heater ha. Being able to get out of the bed easily.
Movement:  She loves being in her favorite spot, my poor right side.  She is always doing something in there.  I always wonder what exactly she's doing based on the weird movements I feel!
Food cravings:  Sweets are definitely more than normal, but no specific thing here.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Have you started to show yet:   Ha. Yes.
Belly button in or out:   Still in
Wedding rings on or off:  On.  I still take them off at night since my fingers swell then, but still good during the day!
Mood: Tired, nervous, anxious, happy, excited.. everything?
Best moment of this week:  Just moving right along with the nursery and getting organization going. We got her closet shelves put in last night, which helped TONS because I got to cram so much of her stuff in there! haha
Looking forward to:   Our doctor's appointment this afternoon.  I always love hearing her little heartbeat in there.  I am so jealous of the people who get all these ultrasounds.  We got one at 8 weeks to confirm, and then our anatomy scan at 18.   I guess I should be thankful we don't need them, since I think most of the time it's from complications.  But I would like to see her one more time before she's here!  I just have to trust everything is ok in there and she's just baking away for her arrival.. soon! :)

No Bake Peanut Butter Bars

So, I have mentioned in my weekly updates I don't really have any particular cravings but I have noticed that I want sweets way, way more than before.  This weekend I was browsing through my 1,000's of pins on Pinterest and saw this yummy, simple recipe in my Desserts board.  Yesterday I picked up the few things I needed and came straight home to whip these up.  So easy and delicious.

I will say.. this is not good to make with only 2 people in the house and one being pregnant. I am sending over half to work with Lance tomorrow so I don't sit around and eat the whole batch myself.

Peanut Butter Bars

Ingredients

Bottom Layer:
1 cup butter melted
2 cups graham cracker crumbs (I used a food processer to grind these up.. they need to be like dust)
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup peanut butter

Top Layer:
4 tablespoons peanut butter
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, confectioners’ sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended. Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9×13 inch pan. In the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the 4tbsp peanut butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Spread over the peanut butter layer. Refrigerate for at least two hours before cutting into squares.

I just cut mine as I get them out to eat one.  I don't know how well these work if you leave them out after they have chilled, but I just leave my pan in the fridge and get them out as I want a square.. or two.. or three.  Oops.

Enjoy! :)
