A lot of blogs I read share their favorites and it's $30+ (sometimes WAY plus) per item and I am just too cheap for that. I have always used "drug store" make-up and been a fan. I can't imagine what more a $40 tube of mascara can do that my $8/9 one does?? I think there's 2 types of girls.. make-up girls and non make-up girls. I am 100% a make-up girl. Even though I am a stay at home mom now and my life consists of play dates, baby gym classes, and Target runs, I still do my make-up daily. It makes me feel like 'me'. I feel like people assume if you wear a full face of make-up you must spend hours doing it. Nope. I have done the same routine for so long, I slap this beauty on within 10-15 minutes while Tilly eats breakfast. And that includes jumping up to grab her plate before it goes flying across the room, clean-ups, adding more food, etc all thrown in.
Here we go!
First off, the one thing I do splurge on is my face lotion. This little jar is around $45 I think, BUT it lasts me a good 6+ months. I have super oily, sensitive skin and this is by far the best lotion I have ever used. I can't give it up! If you buy it directly from the Philosophy website, you can normally get it cheaper than somewhere like Sephora. They always run specials and promotions, so I start watching their site once I am getting close to low so I can get it on a deal.
Next here are my "face" products. I actually recently saw this concealer on another blogger's post and I LOVE it. I got it at Walmart for around $6 and it is so thick. You literally use a TINY drop you can barely even see on your finger and it goes so far. This definitely helps cover my black under eye mama circles I am rocking these days. The foundation and powder also work great for my oily skin and all of these are under $10. The foundation does come in a Normal/Dry Skin formula as well. As you can see I don't favor any particular brand! ha
Next up I am getting into my love for E.l.f. make-up. These products are SO much cheaper than other brands, and I really do love a lot of their line. I use their blush/bronzer combo which is $3 or $4 (I can't remember exactly) and their eyebrow filler that is around the same price. These both last a long time and are mainly found at Target. I do think Walmart carries their line as well now, just not as many options.
Once I get to my eyes, I use 2 different palates. This is the first time using the Maybelline one and I really like it. It goes on even and doesn't fade throughout the day. I normally mix a few of the colors to get what formula I like. As you can see, I stick to the same ones a lot! ha I also LOVE this Wet N Wild shimmer for under my eyebrows and around my eyes. I have used this for ages, and will be devastated if they get rid of it. I actually used to use all Wet N Wild eye shadow, but over the years they have gotten rid of the colors I used. I have had so many people ask me what brand eye shadow I used, and they always seem shocked it's Wet N Wild! ha Their formula always has such vibrant colors and stays on all day! I know people swear by the Naked brand that runs around $50+ and you guys are crazy. Go get you some $3 Wet N Wild and see how it's the same! haha
For my mascara and eyeliner I have always leaned towards Maybelline products for some reason. I am a HUGE fan of waterproof eye products, so that is a must for me. As I mentioned before, I am a super oily girl and if I didn't wear waterproof, I would look like a raccoon in about 30 minutes. It's also a bonus you can go swimming/have a good cry and still have perfect make-up! :)
And last, lips. As I am running out the door, I put on some good ole cherry Chap-Stick and then dap on this great E.l.f. lipstick on top. This doesn't leave that nasty white line across your mouth, and the color stays for quite a while. I like you can make it light enough to give you some color, but doesn't scream "I'm wearing lipstick!" with just a few small daps.
I thought I would throw in my application brushes. Not surprising, E.l.f. brushes! I also use a non-latex sponge for my concealer and only use each side once. So I throw them away every 2 days. You can buy a big pack of 30/40 for maybe $2 so it's not expensive and keeps from spreading bacteria over your face. I also buy those "rough" circles to help blend in my blush/bronzer and change it out about once a week.
And that's that! My favorite, affordable beauty routine! I didn't link any of these products because they are all available at Walmart/Target or any drug store and easy to find! :)
Any other faves I should try??
