Ivor - 6 Months

Month: 6 - August 26, 2017

Height: 25in

Weight: 12lbs 11oz  -- He didn't gain much this time since we were having supply issues and transitioning to bottles.  We have a weight check next month to make sure he bumps back up like the doctor thinks he will now that we are switching to formula.

Diaper Size: 2

Clothes Size: still 6mo here

Sleep:  He is normally asleep anywhere between 6:30-7p and then most nights sleeps until the 5am hour, eats, and back down until maybe 8ish?  His naps have gotten A LOT better and he only sleeps in his crib! I do rock him to sleep for naps because that is just what little man wants.  For awhile he would wake at 40min on the DOT every time.  We are slowly getting past that and most mornings he will do a good hour and a half.  Then the other ones vary from 40 min to around an hour and a half.  Sometimes even 2 hours, but that is rare! He still is only awake around an hour or hour an a half at a time if we are home before he is ready to go back down.  It seems he knows we are at home and just wants to go back to sleep.  He'll manage a lot longer if we're out and about, though he does look like a half asleep little zombie.  We haven't gotten on a nap schedule of certain times.. just more when he is sleepy. Total second kid!

Eat:  As I mentioned above we are now transitioned to bottles.  He slowly started refusing nursing at certain times about a week before his 6mo appointment. Once we saw his weight wasn't picking up this time at the doctor, she concluded I must've been slowly losing my supply and it finally dipped enough for him to want to stop nursing. We made it 6 months and 4 days BF.  I am shocked! I honestly didn't think we would do it at all so that was a huge success for me.  Now I am just trying to figure out how much and how often he wants to eat with the bottle.  Right now we are doing 4-5oz every 3 hours or so.  We'll see how it goes!

Likes:  He is the sweetest and happiest little baby. He loves to grin and smile at everyone, it's the cutest thing! He LOVES chewing on his feet and hands.  He also still loves to watch Tilly all the time. And of course he loves his mommy and daddy!  He also really loves to sleep.. this guy always seems to be sleepy! ha

Dislikes:  Coughing.. His poor cold is pitiful.. more below. Oh, and he HATES if he wakes up on his belly.  My goodness, he goes nuts!

Extra Updates:  Poor little guy picked up Tilly's cold earlier this week and he is so, so pitiful. He is sneezing and coughing like crazy with a nasty runny nose. It's so hard when babies are sick since there isn't much you can do.  He coughs and gets so upset!  In other news he can roll over both ways now, he just still doesn't show much interest in it.  He is still pretty lazy and hasn't done much else ha. We are traveling home to MS next Saturday and I am curious and terrified of how this trip will go with 2 kids.  We are stopping half way on the way there and home.. so that makes 4 days of travel. Yikes! Hopefully it all goes ok and we don't have 2 cranky kids. Not too many updates this month.. just getting our sleeping down and trying to adjust to new feedings. He is still a super mommy's boy and loves to be held and entertained. I can not believe he is already 6 months old.  Time is flying by!! He is still pretty small and is hard to fit in all the baby gadgets, so we have to stick towels around him like we did with Tilly! lol Also, he is his daddy's TWIN! You'll see in some of the pictures below!!

We love you little man, Happy 6 Months!!

Ivor - 5 Months

Month: 5 - July 26, 2017

Height: n/a - no doc appointment this month!

Weight: I held him and weighed myself on our scale to see the difference, and it shows right at 13lbs.  Tiny tot.

Diaper Size: 2

Clothes Size:  Officially bumped up to all things 6 month!

Sleep:  Well it's funny last month I was saying I wish we could get him away from the 9pm bedtime and right after I wrote this, I realized we were keeping him up really for no reason when he was so tired.  We played around a bit to find the best bedtime and we are settled now with doing his last feeding around 7pm and straight to bed.  He is asleep most nights between 7:15-30pm.  We also took away the swaddle and moved him from the pack n play in our room to the crib in his room all in the same weekend.  I was TERRIFIED for this, but thank goodness only the first night was bad and then he was fine! He wakes most mornings between 5-6am to eat and then immediately back down until close to 8am. Night time Lance takes him after I feed him and will bounce with him maybe 1-2 minutes before putting him down awake.  Ivor will roll around and babble a few minutes, then put himself to sleep no problem.  Naps? Naps are my nightmare.  I have been trying to get him in his crib for naps the past 2 weeks and little boy is NOT having it. He will cry and cry and CRY foooorever.  Sometimes if I go in a million times he will finally cave and sleep maybe 30 minutes in there.  He only wants to nap in my arms.  His nights and days are so, so different.  Tilly didn't nap in her crib until 6 months even though she was in there at nights at 4 months as well.  I just held her and watched TV during her naps because she was my only child.  Well, times are different now! ha  I don't know when he'll cave, but we are all completely OVER this nap battle.  I think my kids' 4 month sleep regression must come in the form of naps.. they boycott the crib!

Eat:  Average about every 3 hours during the day.  Still moving along with EBF.  We also started to slowly introduce solids after his 4 month appointment.  Our doctor said she was ok with us testing it out and seeing if he was interested.  We didn't start Tilly until 6 months, but ya know, second kid here! haha This little guy LOVES some baby food.  The only food he hasn't seemed to like so far have been bananas.  His first food was sweet potatoes, just like big sis.  The food has definitely got things flowing more these days, so his days of going 10-14 days with no poop have come to an end!

Likes:  Well he is still all about mama and loves to snuggle and be held.  He also is very, very interested in Tilly still and watches her like a hawk.  He also loves to have something in his mouth at all times.. hand, teether, pacifier.  Speaking of the pacifier, he is still all about that thing during the day but still spits it out within a few minutes at night and doesn't sleep with it.  He also really likes TV. Oops. He loves to turn his head and see what big sister is watching.  He really, really loves the bath tub. He will sit and kick his legs and grin like crazy!  He loves to be held facing out and sitting up.. he always wants to see what is going on.  He also recently discovered his feet and loves to stick them straight in his mouth.

Dislikes:  His crib during the day!

Extra Updates:  We are still just moving right along in this crazy life of 2 kids.  So far he has rolled from his belly to his back, but shown no interest in back to belly.  I try to get him on his mat as much as I can for floor time, but he's pretty lazy and just lays there and looks around!   He really is the sweetest little boy and he sure does love his mommy! He still watches me like a hawk if someone else is holding him and I am in the room.  He had his first long stretch away from me on my birthday.  My mom watched the kids while Lance and I went out for a few hours, and I think we were apart maybe 5-6 hours.  He isn't a big fan of the bottle, but luckily he didn't starve himself while I was gone.  He has started to laugh when other people are laughing and he has some major tickle spots on him.  The funniest thing now is when you are eating or drinking, he is SO interested and looks like he wants to devour whatever it is you are eating.  It cracks me up!  The last few weeks he has gotten really good at being able to reach out and grab his toys, and of course stick them straight in his mouth. He loves the little teether banana toothbrush that was passed down from Tilly. He also still randomly babbles "mama" a lot, even though I know he doesn't know what he is saying.. not yet at least!  I am excited to see what all changes happen this next month as we start venturing into the times of sitting up, rolling over, and the beginning stages of crawling.  Hopefully by next month I will have a happy update for naps and all sleep will be in his crib.. fingers crossed!  We love you little snuggle monster!!

And of course, picture time!
